Recon 19D Review by TOM MAC (Alabama Birmingham) 11/18/2009 6:52 PM
Just bought one of the black ones and I had to have it as soon as I tried it on. This is the best jacket Ive ever seen. Its even set up for your personal communication devices. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Firearms Instructor Review by Bart Dunfee (Georgetown, TX.) 1/10/2010 7:35 AM
I received one of these jackets as a Christmas present from my wife Amanda. We had been looking at similar products when we found this one. Most of them were at least twice the money as the Condor. I have been out to shoot with this jacket twice now and I feel that it functions perfectly. Water beads up and rolls off this jacket and yet it still seems to breath well. The cut is good for shooting sports(not so overly long at the waist that it interferes with drawing or re-holstering a side arm) and the sleeves hang close to the arms without a lot of unnecessary bulk. An added bonus of the material used is that it is nearly silent in motion. Most waterproof shells make a lot of noise as you move. The placement of the pockets is perfect for those that wear tactical vests or plate carriers. Most if not all are still accessible to the wearer. The MP3 pocket works well and it is nice to be able to route the cables thru the jacket interior. The one thing that sort of bugs me is that cold air seeps into the jacket @ the under arm zippers and you can really feel it when wearing a short sleeve shirt as a base layer. No big deal, now I just wear a long sleeve as my base. All in all this is a very nice jacket that will perform as well if not better that it's more expensive competition. Thanks Condor for another great product!! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Chief - Law Enforcement Mountain Operations School Review by STEVEN R.TOMSON (SPOKANE, WA) 1/15/2010 4:06 PM
I wore this jacket during our last Basic Mountain Operations Course (Jan. 9 - 14, 2010). It preformed very well in wet weather with tempatures just above freezing. During 3 hours of steady, light rain and sleet, it shed water well and I remained very dry. The jacket vents well, is very quite in the woods and has lots of functional and well placed pockets that hold mags, knives, trauma and survival gear very well. The jacket dried very quickly hanging inside at 65 degrees F with 100% humidity. This jacket is outstanding and a very good buy. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Range Safety Officer & Instructor Review by Jason (Central California) 5/20/2010 11:19 PM
I have used this jacket for 6 months now. Use it as a daily coat and on the range. Works great overall for most uses. It isn't extremely warm stand alone, but works great as a layered system. Water beads off for awhile, but I still sprayed some WP spray to keep the water beading off longer. A couple notes: 1. They fit consistently one size small. I wear Med./Reg. BDUs and the Large Condor jacket was the best fit. 2. Not very long in the waist. Pros and Cons to this. Works great for the range, but for those with a CCW or can carry a weapon off duty, this jacket is a little tight and short so it doesn't offer the best concealment of a weapon. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Regular guy Review by Mike (West Georgia,USA) 5/28/2010 7:26 AM
I purchased this jacket for a light weight jacket in the winter and for layering with other items when needed. I must say I really like this jacket. It has done what it says it will do. I wish you would make one in multicam!! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Yellowstone Review by SC (Texas) 6/28/2010 11:39 AM
Purchased this jacket for Yellowstone in early June. Couldn't have worked better. Yellowstone in June is rain/sleet/snow/sun and any combination there of. This jacket layered with a fleece layer kept me comfortable and dry. Didn't overheat when the sun came out. 5 stars. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Nice and Functional Review by JC (Chicago) 11/6/2010 10:48 AM
I bought the XXL based on the recs of some other reviews. It fits a little big but the length is perfect. I am 6'2" 45" chest 35"sleeve 36" waist. An XL fit me as well but the length in the torso was not there for me in the XL. So the XXL fits well. Performance is good as well. I have a TAD gear Stealth Jacket as well. There are definitely differences but nothing crazy. The materials on the Condor Jacket are nice. The material is not as stiff as the TAD gear but both jackets keep the water out and keep your body temp comfy. I have had the Condor jacket for about 3 months now and have no compliants. Once it gets really cold here I am going to test it more in the snow and see. But so far at about 1/3 the price of the TAD Stealth, the Condor does a great job. I bought this jacket for around town, hiking, fishing, snowboarding. So far it has made it in some chilly not so dry weather (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Great Jacket for Police Review by Dan M. (NE Ohio) 11/28/2010 9:01 AM
This jacket is a great buy for the money. I have very few complaints with it. One complaint is that the sizing runs small. I am 6'3 215 lbs and i regularly wear an XL. Before purchasing the jacket I read reviews and watched You Tube videos on the jacket, and from what I gathered the jacket ran small. I ordered a XXL and it fits pretty good. The overall jacket length is great (it also has a drawstring on the bottom, so you can sinch it closed and keep yourself warm). The arms are a little long, but the extra length comes in useful (you can adjust the Velcro straps on the wrist over your gloves to keep the snow/wind out). With the arms being a little long the shoulder pocket zippers are a little hard to unzip (this may also be because the jacket is brand new) The lining is a nice fleece and the overall thickness of the jacket is some what thin (you may be able to use it backpacking), but with the wind-breaking material exterior, the middle breathable membrane, and the fleece on the interior. I used the jacket during work last night and I was pleased with it. The temperature was about 15 degrees. The jacket is just roomy enough that you do not feel restrained when wearing a Kevlar vest and multiple layers. The drawstring waist allows me to keep my duty belt accessible while wearing it. I have found the rear tube pocket great for keeping a traffic vest, gloves and face scarf. The loop Velcro allows me to affix my city's patches on the arms while working, and remove them while I wear the jacket as a civilian. One complaint is there being no interior or exterior storm flap. In windy situations I can see the wind cutting through the front zipper. I also have found the armpit zippers not that useful since the front zipper is bi-directional you can cool your self off a lot quicker by pulling the bottom zipper up and the top zipper down. I think the jacket could do without the pit zippers, but I am not a clothing designer, so they must be useful others (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Security/Medic Review by Chris (Alabama) 12/9/2010 2:24 PM
Sizing is definitely a little funny, in most of my other mil-spec gear I wear an XL, I'm 6'4 and 260lbs and the XL in this jacket was too tight and too short. I bumped up to the XXL and it was still a little short, so I bit the bullet and went with the XXXL and the length is perfect and gives me a good amount of room through the chest, it also makes it an ideal CCW jacket. It's very warm and the high collar is great for blocking the wind. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
vet Review by deathrange (Lower Lake, Ca) 12/26/2010 4:34 PM
Great jacket! I have two of these. For some reason both are tan in XL-fits just right. I had a professional tailor remove the hood on one. More comfortable. Can we get factory directions on how to fold the hood back the way it was out of the package? It feels like an inner tube around your neck, however with the jacket zipped up it's not so bad. Keeps you warm. Refolding the hood never feels the same as it originally did. The zipper around the neck lost some teeth and had to have the tailor add stitching. My newer backup jacket, well let's just say I'm never taking out the hood.. Worn it in just below freezing with just a tank top under a t shirt. Feels warmer then my NATO gortex parka. (I want an OD one too). The tan tends to pick up stains. Also, is there a recommended spray to prevent staining and repel water? Will the silicone spray damage it? I hope not, I used it. It works good and darkens the tan. Looks killer. Why is one softer then the other? (I have two so I have a basis of comparison. Nice job, but too many Irish pennants hanging out. Yes, I will end up with three of these, but this is just my feedback. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Excellent Jacket Review by Steve Janes (BC Canada) 3/1/2011 10:59 PM
This jacket is awesome, with a light base layer, it has kept me warm in -4c and there was a wind that day. Keep in mind I was wearing long johns under my jeans and my condor watch cap and would have been freezing without, but I expected my upper body to be cold wearing only my thin base layer and the Soft Shell, I am awaiting the arrival of a micro fleece, that combined with the base layer I already have and the soft shell, should keep me warm no matter what. I would not recommend this jacket as a primary rain coat, it performed well in heavy rain for 10 or 15 minutes b4 it start leeching through the shoulders, if it were just a light rain I figure you could stand still in it most of the day and stay dry, but once it gets heavy it just overwhelmed the water resistance. As long as it the forecast is not HEAVY Rain, this is an all conditions performing jacket, and I highly recommend it. One other thing is, a lot of people have said the collar is too big and is like a tire around your neck (when the hood is folded inside), this is completely un-true, I wear the collar up, and folded down, it folds down quite easily and stays there until I am cold enough to flip it up again. It is not big and fat as some may suggest, and wow does it keep you neck warm! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Amazing! Review by Charles S (Washington State) 3/15/2011 2:12 PM
I have had this softshell since they first came out and it still holds up to the elements. I especially like the under arm zippers when I get too warm. I wore it in heavy rain for about 5 hours and was still dry when I took it off. Highly recommended! I have several friends who also now own one and they love them as well! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Great jacket Review by Mike (GA) 5/26/2011 9:09 AM
I love my jacket. I worn it pretty much all winter. I had to layer a couple of times but no big deal. I purchased mine one size bigger than I wear. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Search and Rescue EMT Review by T. Felix (Arizona) 11/26/2011 7:18 PM
Volunteer Search and Rescue EMT for a County in Az. I have a Tan in XL, I normally wear a Large, but ordered an XL which fits me perfect. Great jacket for the price! I wore it in a steady light rain for 6 hours and kept dry, kept me warm in 45-50 degree weather layered with a single thermal. I opened the pits and the front of the jacket when it got too warm, due to physical activity. The only problem I can foresee is that the front zipper can me a little cumbersome, not sure if a two way is really needed. Now we need some pants with the same material, with side zippers. Great Jacket! Review by Bob (Michigan) 1/25/2012 5:20 PM
This is a great jacket. It has several pockets that can be used for a variety of different things. The material makes the jacket very comfortable, light weight, and easy to move in. I feel that the sizing is also right on. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Great Jacket Review by MA. (Toronto, Canada) 1/29/2012 6:13 PM
There's more than meets the eye to this jacket. There are clever little design details all over the place. It's an amazing value compared to other similar shells, with high quality materials and excellent fit and function throughout. This is typical Condor, the kind of product that is turning me into a huge fan of this company. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Menuda pasada Review by Elecctro (Almeria - España) 2/2/2012 6:28 AM
Durable to K9 Review by N (TN) 10/17/2012 4:06 AM
We have had this jacket on our K-9 unit for 9 months. It has held up in all kinds of conditions, including Malinois hits on us when we were not suited up yet. Exceptional jacket and the many pockets allow for concealment of weapons and safe storage of technology. Most wear a size larger as it is a bit more form fitting than advertised. Buy this jacket- you won't be disappointed. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
A Great, Colder Weather Tactical Jacket! Review by M2 (Texas) 12/10/2012 7:35 AM
I have had the original version (non-lightweight) of the Summit for a couple of years, and love it! It is a warm but breathes well, well-designed jacket that has plenty of useful storage space in it. I am amazed at how windproof it is yet allows ventilation so you don't perspire like a few other similar jackets. The interior is equally amazing, the designers did an excellent job of maximizing all available space and if there isn't enough storage space in it for someone, they really need to invest in an backpack to carry everything they have! The only cons I can think of are it could use a more beefier main zipper and when the hood is rolled up into the collar it is very thick (almost like having on a life preserver). I recently bought a Condor Phantom jacket as it is more practical here in south-central Texas, it is very similar to the Summit I own but lighter and without the hood. The main reason I went with another Condor product was the excellent experience I had with my Summit! Overall, it is an outstanding jacket that has held up extremely well! I am definitely pleased with it and highly recommend the Summit to anyone looking for a good, warmer tactical jacket! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Purchasing manager Review by daddyRaptor (Alabama) 12/30/2012 6:21 PM
I purchased this jacket in an end of season close out and threw it in the closet. Colder weather set in and I started wearing it. Wow!!! I was suprised, it is very wind resistent and quite well made. It has many features that make this jacket a great bargain. I look forward to my next Condor purchase. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Surprisingly Warm and Wind Proof Review by DesertRat (Tucson) 1/11/2013 9:36 AM
For someone that is almost always cold, this jacket is surprisingly warm. I wear it to and from work on the bus and have stayed warm (w/ layering) down to the low 30's. The family went to play in the snow (@ 25 deg) and it completely kept the wind out. This is a great jacket to use with layering. It looks great and wears well. Just not sure what to do with all the pockets :) My only issue is that the main zipper is sometimes a bit difficult to zip together as it has two zippers that have to match up. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Great Jacket Review by GK (Arizona) 2/10/2013 10:01 AM

Great Jacket!! Review by Chase H (Canada) 4/9/2013 7:07 AM
This jacket has been through hell. I hunt, fish and camp in this jacket all year round. I have layered under this and it’s been dry and warm out in –25C. Great value for a great product! Don’t waste money on TAD stuff, Condor is just as high a quality for half the money. (Posted on 7/4/2019)

Great Jacket Review by Panzer Rod (Texas) 1/2/2014 6:06 PM
This jacket is as advertised, a great product. It's warm, provides great flexibility and adaptability. Hand's down, it's one of the very, best jackets that I've ever owned. I plan on picking up another one for my son and for me! Kudos Condor! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
A soldier's Perspective Review by Zach Kier (Co. SPGS) 2/8/2014 6:59 PM
Excellent construct. Warm, water resistant and durable. My Condor softshell has been through everything from flash floods, high-ascent (10,000ft) mountain climbs to everyday wear. I fully recommend the product and have not seen ANYTHING by another manufacturer (5.11 , Red Head, REI) that can match the performance of this jacket. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Surprisingly nice coat, very well made! Review by Sean (Chicago) 10/20/2014 11:20 AM
I wasn't sure what $120 would get me but this is a really nice jacket. Light enough to be unobstructive for pistol draw, tailered well enough that when you have a kydex holster on, it doesn't give your sidearm away. Great wind protection in as low as 35 degree weather. I had the jacket on during heavy rain and it remained dry inside for about an hour, then some penetration. Lots of pockets in the right places. A hood that actually fits my big head too. I like this jacket and I would absolutely suggest it to my friends. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Excellent Value Review by Dan (Seattle) 11/5/2014 6:13 PM
This jacket is awesome, the only thing I'd change is; Tape all the seams for full waterproofing and charge me a little more! (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Pretty Good but with drawbacks Review by Joe (Here) 1/24/2015 10:18 PM
Like other reviewers, order a size larger than you would normally get as it is tight and short in length (sleeves are fine though). Could use some lower front pockets which is kind of annoying. Sleeve pockets are awesome, and it is warm - sometimes too warm. I bought the black one and after a year and a half it has faded from the sun quite a bit (redish/purpleish hue) especially when compared to the hood that stays zipped up normally. Love the hook and loop patches on the sleeves. I'm going to buy another (grey) and hope it doesn't fade. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
Repeats customer Review by John (Clarksville ) 1/29/2015 11:36 AM
After loving my first jack for over a year it was accidentally torn, I then went right back to the store I purchaesed my first one and bought a second. Never thought about buying any other brand. I can ride my motorcycle with just this jack in 50' weather and still be warm as it doesn't allow any air to pass through. Great product! (Posted on 7/4/2019)

Pretty good, some problems down the line... Review by A. (Adams) 11/24/2015 5:51 AM
Bought this jacket four years ago and decided to write a review. This started off as an excellent jacket, warm, dry, carries everything I need in the field, on camping trips and around town. Great jacket. Totally usefull. But then.... Under extreme wet weather conditions the seams leak (they don't appear to be taped). This is only a problem under heavy rain, but then again, that's exactly when you don't want to discover that the water proofing is flawed. Another thing is that the zipper stopped working properly after one year. The thing won't zip up and for the two sides to connect I have to try zipping the damn thing up about 10-40 times before it catches. The zipper definitely needs to be of a higher quality. Finally, the sleeve velcro catches also wore out pretty fast. After about 18 months they stopped having grip and sealing the end of the arms. It's been a nuisance factor mostly, but for the cost, this shouldn't be happening. Maybe a button clasp or some other type of seal? All in all though, like I said, a really good jacket, just don't expect this to be perfect or last forever. (Posted on 7/4/2019)
