Condor backs their products Review by Kurt (Sacramento, CA) 2/29/2016 10:11 PM
First of all this jacket is great. It's comfortable, warm, repels rain, wind and can hold all your EDC. With that said I want to tell you about Condor. I had an issue with the zipper and I contacted a Condor. Even though it was out of warranty Condor recognized their was a defect given the type of use. Long story short they are sending me a new jacket. This is is kind of company you want to buy products from... one that backs their products. So there are a lot of brands out there making tactical jackets, but there is only one brand that truly believe in their products and that is Condor. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Great Jacket Review by Ian Probst (New Hampshire) 10/21/2015 2:13 AM
I used this almost daily for 2 years straight, its comfortable, warm and has plenty of pockets. I far from pampered the jacket and for the most part it stood up to the strenuous war an tear i put it through. Buyers should be aware, the Velcro on the sleeves starts to wear out after 6 or so months of use. The main zipper line tore away from the jacket making it unusable. But this was only after 2 years. I felt I got my moneys worth in that time (Posted on 7/5/2019)
The finest jacket I have ever owned. Review by JD (SF bay area) 6/27/2015 3:54 PM
First of all, I bought a very nice, very expensive light weight Helly Hansen jacket about three months ago. It is top notch Scandinavian design and I was thoroughly impressed with it. The Condor Phantom annihilates and defiles the Helly Hansen in comparison! I had no intent of buying a new jacket, saw this at an army surplus store and was immediately impressed. The pockets are BRILLIANT (size, zippers, location etc), the material is supple, stretchy, soft YET durable. The Velcro cuffs are amazing. The neck is great. And the breathability is astounding. With proper layering, this can be worn nearly anywhere. I honestly can't think of one improvement except for more colorways and camo. Keep up the good work guys. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Excellent product Review by DanBee (Ontario Canada ) 3/17/2015 7:36 PM
Have used this jacket for a little over 2 years and it is still is in great condition. My only problem is that the hanger loop stitching came undone. I took it to Ireland in January of 2012 and there was a light cold mist in the air every day for 2 weeks. The water beaded and rolled right off. My sister had a 300+ dollar north face jacket that was supposed to repel water but it eventually soaked through - I made sure to rub it in that I paid much less and had a superior product :). I like that it has a pen loop for my tac pen and the arm pockets are where I keep my micro torch and edc flashlight. The chest pocket was reserved for my wallet and passport (passport when travelling). I use the armpit vents every time i drive while wearing this jacket and the double zipper is open on the bottom any time i sit down. All in all i have yet to see another jacket fit my needs as well as this. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Stops rain/wind...finally! Review by Eric (Richmond, VA) 4/30/2014 6:04 AM
Ok, I got suckered into the fleece craze when I found a North Face on 75% off sale only to realize that it SUCKED at blocking wind and rain just soaked it. Trendy garbage. I decided to look for a light tactical jacket that actually functioned and found this Condor Phantom. Two weeks of wearing and it really does block rain and wind. For Spring weather here in VA, it's perfect and has all the pockets I need for my phone, IDs, EDC knife, etc. I'm 5'10", 158lbs and the medium fits great, but if you had a pot belly it might be too snug around the middle, but that's how it's supposed to be so it doesn't get in the way of a belt holster. My local shop threw in a free SWAT black American flag for the velcro side panels. It has a nice fleecy feeling inside and is great for your 40 - 60 degree days all by itself. Zipper at the bottom does take a bit of getting used to, but seems to be holding up fine. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Awesome jacket for the price Review by Matticus (Washington) 12/11/2013 6:42 PM
I have had this jacket for several months and have held off on writing a review until I could use the jacket to it's full potential. One recent usage for this jacket was on my trek to the top of Mount St Helens recently, white out conditions, 10 degree weather, 35+ Mph winds, it worked amazing at the top, kept me dry and the wind away. In the recent cold of 10-20 degrees, it has kept me warm (with proper layering). It's great by it's self for 40+ but below, I add the Alpha Microfleece or the same. I wear this jacket on all my outdoor activities, camping, fishing, hiking, climbing, tactical athlete events, military field problems, etc. The quality of the jacket was far better than most of the bad reviews have you believe. For the price you can't go wrong. I have used it extensively in the Pacific North West and it has stood up to some of the worst conditions it has to show here. The only downfalls are like previously noted; - The zipper could be re-designed alot better, it is hard to zip sometimes, and impossible with gloves. - The waist area should have a draw string, because wearing this jacket makes it seem like I am pregnant. - The sizes do fit small, I have always worn a Medium, I am 6'0 180lbs and Athletic/Slim build, but after reading reviews ordered a large; and the Large fit perfect, I can also layer with it not being to snug inside. - If it was Made in America and had at minimum some type of warranty, it would make this even better. Other than those, I Have had no complaints what-so-ever. I will continue to recommend this product to others. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Great Review by BrockDiesel (Afghanistan) 10/5/2013 5:09 PM

Great Intermediate Jacket! Review by M2 (Texas) 12/10/2012 7:27 AM
I bought one of these to accompany the Condor Summit that I own. The latter is a great jacket but a bit too much for most of the year here in south-central Texas (however, it's great when I travel to colder climates!). The Phantom is a better option for this part of the country. It's warm but breathes well, very windproof and with the ability to unzip the sides, it's extremely versatile! While it doesn't have as many pockets as the Summit, it has more than enough for my needs. The only cons I can think of are like the Summit, it could use a more beefier main zipper and the older versions of this had slots behind the sleeve Velcro to put pens in, the one I got doesn't. Outside of those two minor issues, it is an excellent jacket and holds up well! I am definitely happy with my purchase and highly recommend the Phantom to anyone looking for a good, intermediate tactical jacket! (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Civilian Tactical Team Leader Review by Henry (SoCal) 1/23/2012 4:42 PM
Great looking jacket, simple with good features. Definitely needs to come in smaller sizes, as the small is still quite big. Anyone shorter than 5'8 would probably look like they're wearing their dad's jacket. Otherwise would make a great jacket for the team. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Civil Air Patrol Squadron Commander Review by Ric Walters (Houston, TX) 11/11/2011 4:58 AM
My squadron decided to purchase the Phantom to wear when we don't wear our military style uniforms. To a person, the members love them. Light weight (important here in southeast Texas), but warm enough for temps in the 30s and 40s. Our pilots love the plethora of pockets. The only suggestions that have been made are to manufacture these in extra small so our smallest member can wear one, and to add a velcro patch to the chest for name tags. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Trainer/Educator Review by T. Trask (Hibbing, MN) 6/13/2011 12:59 PM
Just bought one as part of staff uniform requirements. Have worn it in rain-heavy and prolonged light rain with cold wind, and, thrown it in the truck 'just in case'. I'll own more than one of these! We have many other Condor products we train with, and they are durable, practical, and under priced. As a matter of fact, I'm ordering one more today.... (Posted on 7/5/2019)
An Excellent Buy Review by Ben (Virginia) 3/27/2011 7:28 PM
I'd been looking for a quality soft shell jacket for some time and had several considerations, but when I had a chance to look over and try on one of these at a local tactical shop, I knew which one I was going to buy. This is an extremely well-made and comfortable jacket, light enough for an outer layer on windy days, but also warm enough for layering when it's cold. I also like the from-fitting cut of the jacket, it's not too bulky and fits into a backpack great when not in use. This is one great jacket! (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Civilian Deputy/Army NG SGT Review by John (Michigan) 3/18/2011 11:40 PM
This jacket is just what I've been looking for. The material all over feels extremely durable and well crafted. The inside is very comfortable and soft, while the outside feel tough and does a great job repelling water. This jacket does great as a windbreaker due as well as a moderately cold weather coat. The zipper opening under the arms allow you to wear this jacket even when temperatures rise or if you happen to find yourself generating a lot of body heat as you might while training or on duty. The pockets are well placed with strong water resistant zippers. The jacket is fairly form fitting, so you won't have the bulky "coat" look with extra material and padding. It looks almost like a loose long sleeve shirt, which is what I was looking for. You could easily wear this under a tac-vest if you needed to without it feeling like there's bunched up material or restricted movement. The main zipper has a secondary component which lets you unzip it partially from the bottom, which can be useful for getting it around duty belts and whatnot. The only minor negative I can think of is that the two wire grommets inside the side pockets just route cords into the interior of the jacket, where they could hang loose, instead of giving you an actual wire guide through the layers of material all the way up to the collar area. I would have preferred that so that cords would be totally out of the way instead of being loose on the inside of the jacket. But really that's not a flaw, that's just a minor personal preference and doesn't at all detract from the usefulness of this jacket. It would also be neat if they added the wrist-area zipper pocket like some of the other Condor jackets have, but again, that's just something that I think would make it better; not that the lack of it makes this jacket worse. Great Quality!!!! Recommended... Review by John (Orange County) 1/8/2011 6:13 PM
I bought one of these for myself and it is an excellent jacket. Unbelievable quality for the price. Fits perfectly, lots of pockets with zippers for stuff. Has armpit openings to cool off. Very warm! Water beads right off it in the rain. I also like that it does not have the hand/sleeve thing that the fleece ones have, that bothers me and is something that I don't like. Get one, you won't regret it. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
Police Review by Nate (Tri-state NY) 1/6/2011 5:17 AM
I have had this jacket for 1 month now and love it. It is great in light rain and/or snow. Having an athletic build the fit is perfect but friends of mine find the chest and waist are smaller than other jackets the same size. Everywhere I go people are complementing me on this jacket and ask where they can get one! My only wish is that CONDOR would improve any areas with zippers ... The zippers seem fragile and water seeps through in moderate to heavy rains. I would assume this would cause the jacket price to increase significantly but as the jacket stands right now ... DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR THE BEST JACKET I OWN!! (Posted on 7/5/2019)
