Nice pack, but. . Review by Matt (Wisconsin) 12/2/2015 3:04 PM
While I haven't used this pack extensively (two weekend outings so far) I find that it is a nice pack for a day or two (maximum) in the field. It holds just about everything I needed for temperate weather and has enough external straps/webbing for adding additional pouches etc. This pack is too small if you need any cold/wet weather gear. It worked fine with a poncho liner strapped to the bottom of the pack and the rest of the gear, including a light thermal base layer for cool nights inside. Durability seems fine at this point. No seams have come apart and nothing has broken. My only issue is . . The description says that the pack is hydration compatible which it is, sort of. A bladder would fit in the main pouch but there isn't any means to secure the bladder to the pack, and no opening to pass a tube through. There is another pouch that sits next to your back that will also hold a bladder. Again with no means to secure it to the pack, although two pieces of paracord running through the holes on the bladder and up through the two D rings on the shoulder straps will be sufficient. Furthermore, there is no easy access to the bladder once it is installed in the back pouch. Adding or draining the bladder requires complete removal from the pack. Personally I'm not fond of this, you might like it. Lastly, there seems to be too much pressure on the bladder with it resting between your back and your gear. Time will tell if this is truly an issue or not. I'd really like if this pack was compatible with the MCR series of chest rigs like the 242-008 Hydro Harness is. Better would have all three stand alone use (like they are now) and have them able to connect to each other. Something like having the pack connected to the rig with the hydro harness attached to the out side of the pack. (Posted on 7/5/2019)
