SUMMIT ZERO SOFTSHELL JACKET
- Product Review (submitted on July 5, 2019):
I really like the Summit. LOTS of pockets and quite functional. This is designed as a shell, so you may want to buy it a size larger, so you can add base and intermediate layers as needed. There are some limitations. This jacket is completely windproof, and is SOMEWHAT rainproof. In light-medium rain and mist I have not had any issues whatsoever. However, in heavy rain it will leak at the seams. There is no seam sealer on this jacket, so heavier rain will eventually make its way through. Shy of sealing all the seams, there are seams right along the tops of the shoulders that probably should have been located elsewhere. That is the primary place that I have seen water get in. As I said, I really like the jacket and may choose to seal the seams myself. For now I bring this when I need a windbreaker or light rain protection. When I know I'm heading out for wet'n'wild weather, I pack my military issue GoreTex (ECWS) shell which provides all day protection in the worst conditions. The Summit is definitely the more comfortable of the two, so I hope they start sealing or relocating the seams.
